Catching Fire

Summary:


Katniss is recovering and preparing for her victory toor with peeta. Meanwhile president snow stops by to warn Katniss that he will be watching her. He tells her he doesn't want any more rebellion in the districts and that he knows peeta and her are not truly in love. He sent spies to watch katniss and saw when she and Gale kissed in the wood. If people find out it would make the capital look bad, so he told her that she had to marry peeta to prove her love. Katniss and peeta starts their victory tour and caused an uprising in district 2 where Rue's family lived.


During an interview, Peeta proposed to Katniss publicly hoping to distract the uprisings. But they failed and another uprising took place. After the tour, Katniss returns home and tries to restore her friendship with Gale. Gale starts working in the mind and rarely had time for her. When they met, they kissed and went hunting together. When Gale was returning back, he whipped almost to death by the peacemakers in warning from president snow that he will kill Gale if she doesn't stop the rebellion.


Soon after the 75th hunger games was announce where chosen victors had to go back in the game. This time meant more competition and intense killing. Peeta and Katniss returns to the hunger game and made alliance to Finnick, a 24 year old man and  Mags, a 80 year old women from district 4. Mags died in an acid rain. They make alliance with Beete and Wiress, a couple from district 3 and johanna. Wiress realized that the attacks came in a clock system. This gave them Major advantage against the rest of the opponents. Katniss faced many obstacles one in which was the mocking jay screaming sounds which sounded like her family. Katniss continues to protect Peeta and trusted her alliance. Beete planned to destroy the force field and break out the Arena. While Katniss was gathering woods, separated from Peeta, Johanna cut her arms taking out her tractor. Beete's plan come to success and Katniss thought she was dying when an over craft came and got her. She and Beete , Finnick were picked up but Peeta and Johanna was captured by the capital. The book ends with Katniss waking up and Gale tells her there is no more district 12.

Reaction:
Peeta and Katniss is in district 11 and Peeta is saying that he will give some of what he wins to that district. Katniss is talking about Rue and starts getting emotional. There's long silent pause and Someone Whistles the tunes. At first I thought that the people were just showing respect to Katniss for making alliance with Rue but then i realized that it was a kind of sign of rebellion and Katniss then symbolize a Mocking jay.

Summary:

The novel "Everything Sucks I'm Losing My Mind in High School" by Hannah Freeman is about Hannah growing up and her struggles as she gets older. The story begins with Hannah just being in grade school and wanting to fit in with the other kids but she is being tease and is left out like an outsider. Grade after grade her nickname rises from “monkey girl" to "freak girl". Hannah has a monkey name Amelia. She considered Amelia as family because she thinks that Amelia gets all the attention in the family. The story continues where Hannah is in high school and befriended the popular girls in school known as "The Great Eight". She begins to lose herself and tries to fit in with these girl  by dressing ,eating and acting like them. Hannah becomes anorexic and continuously lie to her parents about her "sleep over" with the girls. Instead she hangs out with a group of friends who influence her to do drugs. The book has explicit details about her relationship with her boyfriend. Hannah gives in to peer pressure and completly loses her values. Hannah realizes that friends, sex is not what everyones makes it seem like. So she manages to keep her grades up and get into the college of her dreams.

Quote:
" Mom says she doesn't remember anything between the ages of nine and twelve starting with the night her sister Dianne stopped complaining about the head ache  that had been bothering he all day after she banked her head on the side of the pool. Dianne stop complaining because she was dead".


Reaction:
This quote is very interesting to me because as i am reading the book, I'm wondering what was going on in her family until this quote was stated. This explains why her mother is so protective of her and thinks of the worst situations that can happen.
