Roar note # 1

Summary:
The novel "Everything Sucks I'm Losing My Mind in High School" by Hannah Freeman is about Hannah growing up and her struggles as she gets older. The story begins with Hannah just being in grade school and wanting to fit in with the other kids but she is being tease and is left out like an outsider. Grade after grade her nickname rises from “monkey girl" to "freak girl". Hannah has a monkey name Amelia. She considered Amelia as family because she thinks that Amelia gets all the attention in the family. The story continues where Hannah is in high school and befriended the popular girls in school known as "The Great Eight". She begins to lose herself and tries to fit in with these girl  by dressing ,eating and acting like them. Hannah becomes anorexic and continuously lie to her parents about her "sleep over" with the girls. Instead she hangs out with a group of friends who influence her to do drugs. The book has explicit details about her relationship with her boyfriend. Hannah gives in to peer pressure and completly loses her values. Hannah realizes that friends, sex is not what everyones makes it seem like. So she manages to keep her grades up and get into the college of her dreams.

Quote:
" Mom says she doesn't remember anything between the ages of nine and twelve starting with the night her sister Dianne stopped complaining about the head ache  that had been bothering he all day after she banked her head on the side of the pool. Dianne stop complaining because she was dead".


Reaction:
This quote is very interesting to me because as i am reading the book, I'm wondering what was going on in her family until this quote was stated. This explains why her mother is so protective of her and thinks of the worst situations that can happen.
